Dear St. Cyril Families,

It was so wonderful to see so many of you at Open House—thank you for coming out and for taking the time to connect with one another and our school community.

As we look ahead, Catholic Schools Week is here, and we’re excited for a week full of meaningful celebrations and festivities—please be sure to review the flyer below for all the details.

We’re also looking forward to our Annual Gala and are thrilled to share that it will be held at a new venue this year, with more information below on the location and ways to get involved.

We wanted to take a moment to say how incredibly grateful we are for the generosity of the Pastoors family and the special partnership they have helped foster between our school and the Rams; while we were disappointed to see the Rams’ season come to an end, it was exciting to watch the team play so strong all the way through. (And I’ll admit, I’m personally enjoying holding onto a little bragging rights over my Chicago family!)

Finally, as we continue our fundraising efforts, we appreciate your support volunteering and helping with the Snack Shack, which was a big success last year and remains an important way to support our school community.

Wednesday, January 28th – 11AM -9PM

PARENT PICNIC | ON CAMPUS
Friday, January 30th | 11:00AM

We’re excited to celebrate our annual Parent Picnic on January 30th at 11:00AM! We invite you to bring a picnic blanket, pack a lunch, and join your child for a special lunch at school. See attached flyer for more details.

If you’re unable to attend, consider asking a relative – such as an aunt, uncle, or grandparent – to join your child for lunch. Alternatively, you can make arrangements with another school family to ensure your child has company. Our goal is for no student to feel left out, so if you’re unable to make it or need assistance arranging a lunch buddy, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

UNIFORM EXCHANGE SALE
Saturday, January 31st – 4:30PM – 5:30PM | PARISH HALL

Mark your calendars for our upcoming Used Uniform Sale on Saturday, 1/31, from 4:30–5:30 PM in the Parish Hall. This is a great opportunity to stock up on gently used uniforms at a great value!

We are also looking for volunteers to help make this event a success. Help is needed on Sorting Day, Thursday 1/29, from 3:00–5:00 PM in the Lunch Pavilion, as well as on the day of the sale from 3:30–6:00 PM. SIGN UP HERE to help volunteer with the used uniform sale.

Uniform donations are due by Tuesday, 1/27, and can be dropped off at the School Office. Please make sure to label your bag(s) with your family name in order to receive credit.

We’re excited to announce the venue for our 2026 Spring Gala! The Sheraton Universal Starview Room has been secured for our event. The evening will feature a plated dinner, cash bar and dancing all while surrounded by the breathtaking 360 degree views of the Hollywood Hills and beyond. More information is coming soon, but in the meantime save the date and book your babysitter. This is a night you won’t want to miss!

TEACHER EXPERIENCES – VOLUNTEER(S) NEEDED

We are looking for one or two volunteers to spearhead the Teacher Experiences auction items for the upcoming Gala.

The Heart of the Role

This isn’t your average fundraising gig. You are the architect of our most anticipated auction items: the Teacher Experiences. Your mission is to collaborate with our talented faculty to curate unique outings that reflect their individual personalities—from going to Universal Studios with their favorite teacher to crafting the afternoon away at Color Me Mine.

What You’ll Do

Connect & Curate: Build genuine relationships with teachers to brainstorm experiences that families will love.
Coordinate: Manage the logistics and scheduling for these outings, ensuring a seamless experience for both staff and families.
Champion the Cause: Directly contribute to the school’s largest annual fundraising event by creating high-value, “must-have” items.

Mark your calendars! The 2026 SCJ Gala is happening Friday, April 17, 2026, and we need your help to make it our most impactful fundraiser yet. This year’s gala proceeds will go toward upgrading the playground.

You can make a difference by donating items to our Auction! All donations are tax‑deductible, and every contribution helps fund these important projects.

SNACK SHACK

The Snack Shack will officially open on Monday 9/15!

**Volunteers Needed!** (All volunteers must be VIRTUS-trained and fingerprinted). Sign up here: Snack Shack Volunteers

Without enough volunteers, Snack Shack may close.

Shifts are:

Mondays & Wednesdays during snack time – 9:45–10:45 AM
Fridays during snack time and after school – 12:30–1:30 PM

Snacks and small trinkets are available for purchase, so please send your child with cash if they’d like to shop. Let’s keep the Snack Shack running for the kids!

EMPOWERING GOD’S CHILDREN

As part of our commitment to student safety, we will be presenting the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Empowering God’s Children lesson on Internet Safety to students this month. This age-appropriate lesson helps students learn how to stay safe online through guided discussions and activities and includes a short take-home component for families. Please be sure to complete the permission form.
