As this school year comes to a close, so does our term as your Parent Association Board. It feels strange to write that sentence after two years filled with meetings, events, emails, group texts, spreadsheets, late-night problem solving, and so many moments of joy and connection with this community.
When we first stepped into these roles, we knew we were volunteering to help support the school. What we didn’t fully realize was how much this community would give back to us in return.
To my fellow board members Jennifer Leung, Sarah Mouawad, Connie and Andy Alverez and Deborah Nicoloau: thank you for your partnership, humor, patience, and willingness to jump in whenever and wherever needed. None of what we accomplished happened because of one person. It happened because of a group of parents who consistently showed up for each other and for this school.
To our administration and teachers: thank you for the trust you placed in us and for the work you do every single day, often behind the scenes and without recognition. Supporting this school has only deepened our appreciation for how much care, energy, and heart goes into creating this environment for our children.
And to the parents of SCJ: thank you for volunteering, donating, attending events, buying raffle tickets, serving pizza, folding shirts, decorating tables, coaching teams, answering texts, and stepping in when help was needed. Small schools only work when people participate, and this community truly does.
Over the last two years, we’ve watched students grow, families form friendships, traditions continue, and new memories take shape. We’ve also learned that what makes this school special isn’t any single event or fundraiser. It’s the feeling that people here genuinely care about one another and are willing to contribute to something larger than themselves.
Serving as PA President has been one of the most challenging, rewarding, exhausting, and meaningful experiences I’ve had. I’m deeply grateful for it.
While our board’s chapter is ending, the story of the SCJ community continues. It will continue because new parents will step forward with fresh ideas, energy, and love for this school.
Thank you for allowing us to serve this community. It has truly been an honor.
With gratitude,
Vicki Parks-Murphy
PA President

UNIFORM DONATIONS

As the school year comes to a close, we are beginning to prepare for next year’s Uniform Sale in August! We are currently accepting donations of gently used Dennis uniforms to help support our school community.
All Dennis uniforms will be accepted except grey polos, navy sweatpants, and navy sweatshirts. Families who donate uniforms will receive credit to use at the August sale.
Donations may be dropped off at the school office. Thank you for helping us keep our uniform exchange program going strong and supporting fellow SCJ families!
LOST & FOUND
Friday, June 5th | SCJ PAVILLION
Please take a moment to check the Lost & Found for any items that may belong to your child. As we wrap up the school year, all unclaimed items remaining after Friday, June 5th will be generously donated to our Uniform Exchange.
We encourage students and families to stop by and take a look before the end of the week – you may be surprised at what you find!
Thank you for helping us clear out the Lost & Found before summer break.
SECURITY MATCHING GRANT FUND *EXTENDED
Closes Friday, June 5
Auctria will remain open through June 5th and is still accepting donations for the St. Cyril School Foundation Security Matching Grant Fund.
The Foundation has generously committed to matching all donations dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000, specifically for critical campus security improvements. As many of you may have already noticed, some of these enhancements are already underway — including increased security staffing — but there is still a larger fundraising goal of approximately $170,000 needed to fully complete these important upgrades.
We are incredibly grateful that many families have already contributed toward this important initiative, and we thank everyone who has helped support these efforts so far. We encourage those who are still able to give to consider making a donation during this matching opportunity, where every dollar goes twice as far toward helping strengthen the safety and security of our campus for all students, faculty, and families.
Click THIS LINK to donate.
Thank you for your continued generosity and support of St. Cyril of Jerusalem School.
