Teacher Appreciation Week begins next week, and we’re so excited to celebrate the amazing educators who do so much for our students each and every day! We have a fun and thoughtful week planned, with each day featuring its own special theme to show our gratitude in different ways. Round 2 is here — and the excitement isn’t over yet!
Auctria has officially reopened for bidding and buy-it-now purchases on all remaining unsold items. This second-round auction is your chance to snag something special before it’s gone for good. Bidding will remain open until May 2 at 11:00PM, so don’t miss out!
There are still plenty of incredible items up for grabs, including Super Bowl tickets, UCLA football game tickets, museum admissions, skincare vouchers, summer camps, gift certificates, jewelry and so much more. Plus, you’ll find a variety of exclusive SCJ favorites, like reserved seating at major school events and unforgettable teacher experiences.

GRANDPARENTS DAY
Friday, May 1st | 10:30AM – 12:00PM
We are happy to announce the return of Grandparents Day to SCJ! It has been way too long. This will be THIS FRIDAY, May 1st as we know many grandparents will be in town for May Crowning and First Holy Communion. This event will be sponsored by the Foundation for St. Cyril. Attached below is a flyer. If you have any grandparents who live in town, please invite them to join us. Grandparents here or not, there will be a fun activity planned for all students prior to May Crowning at noon.

Let’s celebrate our amazing teachers! We’ve planned a fun-filled week to show our appreciation for everything they do. Here’s what’s in store:

Monday, May 4 – Gratitude Wall
Showing appreciation to our teachers through our community art and letter display.
Tuesday, May 5 – Thanks-a-Latte
Teachers will be treated to coffee and pastries in the teacher lounge in the morning, courtesy of the PA.
Wednesday, May 6 – Lunch Love
Lunch will be served from Naab Cafe and provided to all teachers and staff, courtesy of the PA.
Thursday, May 7 – Fruit Treat Day
A refreshing fruit cart will be available for teachers to enjoy a healthy treat, courtesy of the PA.Friday, May 8 – Friday Flowers
Parents and students are invited to bring a flower from your garden or pick one up to brighten your teacher’s day. Gratitude Wall drawings and notes will be distributed to teachers after school.
APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN FOR THE 2026-2028 PA BOARD

Open roles include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Volunteer Coordinator, and Communications Coordinator—aka the dream team behind the scenes making it all happen. 2026 SCJ TALENT SHOW

We are excited to announce … Friday, May 22nd is our annual Student Talent Show! Get ready to share your talent:
Singing, dancing, an instrument, magic, acting, gymnastics, stand-up comedy or any other talent you have. Individual and group acts are welcome.
Reviews are required to participate. There are two easy ways to submit…
- Video submissions of Reviews are due to SCJTalentShow@gmail.com no later than Friday, May 1st.
- Select in-person Reviews will be held at lunch & after school on Thursday, April 30th.
Please email us if you prefer to come in person and indicate lunch or after school. We will then reply with your review time.
Only the general concept & a short sample of your act is needed for reviews to give an idea of your skit. It does not have to be completed or polished.
Guidelines:
- Solo performances may not be longer than 2 minutes.
- Group performances may not be longer than 3 minutes.
- Students may perform in a MAXIMUM of 2 acts.
- No lip-synching performances unless the song is put to dance or something stylized (performances standing at the microphone and lip-synching to a piece of music will not be accepted.
- The act must be thought out and prepared for the review.
- Please make sure to come to the reviews with your edited music, props, instruments, etc.
- The school does not provide music editing or assistance. Please don’t forget to bring your music!
You may email your edited music in .wav or mp3 format toSCJTalentShow@gmail.com if you do not want to send a phone to school to play on review day.

SNACK SHACK
**Volunteers Needed!** (All volunteers must be VIRTUS-trained and fingerprinted).

Shifts are:
- Mondays & Wednesdays during snack time – 9:45–10:45 AM
- Fridays during snack time and after school – 12:30–1:30 PM
Without enough volunteers, Snack Shack may close.
Snacks and small trinkets are available for purchase, so please send your child with cash if they’d like to shop. Let’s keep the Snack Shack running for the kids!
REMINDER – REQUIRED VOLUNTEER HOURS
This is a gentle reminder to please review your volunteer hours in your Gradelink portal.

Please note that the fulfillment deadline for 8th grade parents is April 30, 2026. Any unfulfilled volunteer hours after this date will be billed to your FACTS tuition account.
